Are Bananas Good for Urinary Tract Infections?

By Fritz

If you have been looking for the right foods to help you overcome your painful and frustrating urinary tract infections, try bananas. A food that provides you the right amount of nutrients needed to fight off the bacteria in your body.

There are also several foods that works to improve symptoms and reduce pain. Here are the benefits of eating a few bananas each day.

Eating bananas to keep potassium level back to normal

First of all, bananas are filled with potassium. Potassium is a mineral that helps to keep your urine balanced. When your urine is not balanced, it causes various symptoms like bloating, painful urination, and even blood in the urine.

By eating bananas, you get your potassium levels back to normal. No longer suffer from these unpleasant side effects. Plus, you will end up feeling more energized throughout the day.

Another benefit to consider is that bananas are a great source of vitamin A. Vitamin A has been shown to be effective in treating urinary tract infections. It helps boost your immune system so you can ward off these infections from occurring. Since many women don’t get enough vitamin C in their diets, eat a handful of bananas each day.

Is Milk Bad For UTI’s?

Since then though, we’ve learned that soda is just as harmful and many adults have also found that it can actually play a role in causing or worsening their chronic health conditions.

As it turns out, drinking a glass of regular cow’s milk each day actually is not that bad for your UTI because the bacteria which cause UTIs are not present in milk.

Milk is actually not all that bad for you either. While it is important to get plenty of fluid, especially if you have a fever or urinary tract discomfort, milk actually has some good things to do in your body. It helps to balance your stomach acidity and helps to keep you hydrated which both are important to preventing infections.

It can actually be beneficial for your immune system too. One study conducted by the University of Wisconsin found that women who consumed dairy products during pregnancy had a lower risk of suffering from lower respiratory tract infections.

They found no significant difference in women consuming milk versus those who did not. However the results were more statistically significant for the women who consumed cow’s milk versus those who didn’t.

Is milk bad for UTI’s? The short answer is no, but it is important to understand why it is not. It is important to drink plenty of water, and you should consider a daily calcium supplement for your diet as well. If you are prone to UTI’s then you should limit the dairy products in your diet as much as possible. If you follow these suggestions, and you work with your doctor, then you should be able to keep your kidneys healthy and infection free.

As you may know, a common treatment for bladder infections is to use a cranberry juice douche. You can actually do this using a supplement form. However, if you are already taking a daily multivitamin supplement you should switch to drinking the juice instead. Bananas are great because they have a high amount of vitamin C in them and you can get that vitamin C from eating the fruit.

Eating fruits for UTI

The last thing to mention about banana consumption is potassium. Potassium works with vitamin C and A to help boost your immune system. You can find potassium in bananas, raisins, strawberries, and even spinach. So if you want to ward off urinary tract infections, you should start drinking a few servings of potassium-rich foods every day.

Last but not least, the last major banana benefit is vitamin b6. As you probably already know, vitamin C and B6 are both classified as fruits; so bananas are actually good for you. This doesn’t mean you should eat only bananas though.

Suffering from a urinary tract infection? You should include a vitamin b6 supplement to help improve your body’s ability to fight off the infection.

As you can see, all of these benefits are great. So when you hear someone say “bananas are good for urinary tract infections”, know that it is true. It just means that the potassium and vitamin C in the banana will benefit your body in different ways.

Vitamin C and B6 to avoid the symptoms of urinary tract infection

Including them in your daily diet and get the vitamin c and b6 needed to avoid feeling the symptoms of the infection.

If you feel an infection coming on, drink at least two glasses of water per day to flush your system out and stop any future infections.

Uva ursi juice are also great to drink to help with bladder control. Bladder control is extremely important because a UTI can be caused by something entering the bladder. You want to limit your chances of having a UTI, drink enough water each day to keep your bladder working properly.
